Instructions for Using Visual Indices
How to read the map
Start in the center: The center circle notes which state scan you are viewing.
Move to the left side of the map: The top section illustrates existing renewable energy projects. The bottom section illustrates proposed projects. Both sections are further broken down into small scale, institutional scale, community scale, commercial scale, chip mills, and pellet plants.
Move to the right side of the map: This side illustrates the drivers affecting the project viability and is broken down into the following categories: public policy, financing, education, infrastructure, and community benefits.
How to use online map features:
Text: Only the basic structure of the map is viewable when you open the map page.
To expand information: click on non-colored lines. For example, go to left side, find the box that says “Existing” headline and then the line that says “commercial scale.” Click the “commercial scale” line to expand the information and view all commercial scale projects. Any lines with a circle at the end of them are expandable. Contract the line the same way.
To see a note: Some lines contain notes. Hover over the yellow icon to view the note.
To go to web link: Some lines contain active web links. Click on a red arrow to bring you to the hyperlink.
To pan: You can move the map by clicking and dragging the map canvas.
