Networks

The Northern Forest Center has helped create a shared vision for the Northern Forest—a vision of a strong, locally based economy that supports thriving communities and encourages stewardship of the forest. This is a long-term vision will be achieved only with the commitment and active participation of many people. The Center develops networks of organizations and individuals who have the expertise, connections and commitment to help build a sustainable future for the region.

The Center believes that bringing individuals and organizations together through networking is key for the Northern Forest’s future. Together we create a stronger voice for the region than when we work individually. Our partners come from diverse fields: the arts, education, conservation, tourism; from private businesses both large and small; from local, state and federal legislatures and agencies; from rural development organizations, historical and cultural groups, preservation societies; chambers of commerce and more.

Partners and members across The Center’s networks cover the breadth and complexity of the Northern Forest’s challenges and opportunities. They help The Center reach out to others who care about the long-term viability of the region and to create long-term solutions for the challenges facing the region.

The Center is the organization addressing community well-being, economic development and forest conservation across all four states of the Northern Forest. The Center’s unique regional perspective enables it to accelerate and amplify the work of others by bringing multiple approaches together into one, integrated whole.

To advance the priorities of The Center’s new strategic plan, The Center is building and enhancing strategic partnerships with experts and stakeholders in the resource fields of biomass renewable energy, ecosystem services, tourism and sustainable forestry and wood products, as well as working with others to build capacity in the region through public policy, finance and investment, and networking.

The following chart lists organizations The Center is working with. Due to the speed at which the networks are growing, this list can never be truly complete. Please let us know of any omissions by contacting Kelly Short.
