Dear Shelly,
Just as the Northern Forest adapts to changing needs, so has the Northern Forest Center's e-newsletter. Responding to our subscribers' wishes for more networking opportunities and up-the-minute information, each edition of Northern Forest Network News will continue to spotlight Resources, Funding Sources and Fun Events, but also link you to pages on our website, Northern Forest Center, that have information about even more opportunities.
Here's a quick update on just a few of the Northern Forest Center's projects...
Northern Forest Days' inaugural season, which included celebrations in eight locations across the Northern Forest, was a tremendous success. Partnering with local organizations helped create multi-day events that were tailored to each location's interests, and people of all ages enjoyed exploring the region's past and discovering its future.
The Sustainable Economy Initiative's steering committee meets in June to continue its work to create a strategic blueprint for sustainable economic development in the Northern Forest region based on balanced investment in business, community and environment.
The Community Forest Collaborative, a partnership of the Center's Sustainable Forest Futures program, the Trust for Public Land and the Quebec-Labrador Foundation/Center for the Environment, will release a report this summer that describes how a new model for Community Forests can deliver community, economic and conservation benefits to the rural communities of New England. (The report will be available on our website.)
We hope that you'll enjoy our e-newsletter's new format, and that you'll continue to help us keep people who live, work and play in the Northern Forest in touch with what's happening throughout the region. We welcome your input! Please go to the "Resources & Events" section of our website to submit items for future issues. All items submitted will also be considered for posting on our website.
