Federal Appropriations for the Northern Forest
In 2005 and 2006, the Center coordinated a request to Congress
to fund a wide range of federal programs that benefit the Northern
Forest. Dozens of organizations have endorsed these requests
for funding to the region, as have Governors George Pataki of
New York, John Baldacci of Maine and John Lynch of New Hampshire.
For federal Fiscal Year 2007, the Center and endorsers requested
more than $311 million for programs in the following agencies:
- USDA Forest Service
- USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
- USDA Rural Development
- Department of Commerce
- Department of Health & Human Services
- Department of Housing & Urban Development
- Department of the Interior
- Environmental Protections Agency
- Small Business Administration
