SFF
is intended to address all aspects of the “value-added” chain,
including activities in the forest and in primary and secondary
manufacturing.
- Cut-to-Length Harvesting Initiative, which promotes innovation
in logging to enhance. ecological sensitivity and provide economic
benefits
- New Markets Tax Credits Financing, which funds working
forest conservation and economic development.
- Community Forest
Collaborative, which promotes community forest ownership as
a tool for economic development, community development and
conservation.
- Regional
Wood Products Consortium, which promotes innovation in wood
products manufacturing to enhance economic competitivenes
SFF strives to create synergy among its various initiatives.
Over time, SFF will help build and disseminate intellectual capital
about what works in the marketplace, and help create demonstrable
models of innovation and success that can be replicated.
The Sustainable Forest Futures Program was launched as an active
program of the Northern Forest Center in 2004, and incorporated
as a non-profit subsidiary in 2008 with a specialized Board of
Directors.
