The Northern Forest Center advocates for the Northern Forest region and helps its communities benefit from forest-based economic and conservation initiatives. The Center is a small organization with a regional perspective that collaborates with hundreds of organizations and agencies across a 4-state, 30-million-acre area. To build capacity across this network, The Center invests in sharing news and information, research, and tools. Improved information flow helps to advance progress and enables all members of the network to learn from the experiences and successes of each other. Northern Forest News Digest
The Center’s Northern Forest News Digest is a FREE weekly compendium of news about the Northern Forest and about national and international issues that affect the region. The Center’s staff scans more than 35 news sources—from local weekly newspapers to statewide dailies to the web—to deliver information about the forest industry, tourism, the environment, renewable energy, education, grant funding and events to keep you informed. Topical Subscription Services
The Center emails information periodically on the following topics: Renewable Energy, Public Policy, and Carbon & Ecosystem Services. Each subscription will keep you informed of updates on related projects, new tools and resources, calls to action, and more. Publications
In its first decade, many of The Center’s programs focused on creating a better understanding of the Northern Forest, its assets, needs, and opportunities. The Center published the data and analysis of several of these projects to share the results. More recent programs have resulted in a regional economic strategy, a primer on carbon markets for landowners, and research related to Community Forests. View the publications.
